Mini Bazaar at Kanekin 14th Gatherings

Hello everyone! I was very humbled to be the part of Kanekin community that in the last Kanekin gathering, me and other community member who have their own brand to participate as a tenant in mini bazaar section. Many people asked me what Kanekin is and if I worked there, first of all, nope, I didn't work at Kanekin, I am a part of it as a community member.

" Kanekin is an independent media established in the year of 2014. Our enthusiasm and interest towards the current ongoing lifestyle have brought us to a realization that there are certain shifts and alterations in terms of lifestyle. Seeing how more and more prominent and versatile lifestyle is evolving into, our conscience has been aroused into thinking that we need, are willing and able to be a part of the change " - brief introduction from Kanekin website.

Clover and Flower's desk at the event

Kanekin has a community. It's a place to gather people who share the same interest in creative and lifestyle fields. I have made a lot of friends through joining Kanekin Gatherings. I've made friends with photographers, graphic designers and illustrators, social media influencers. Not only for people with artistic background, people who loves travelling, share the interest in having an up-to-date lifestyle and not forgot to mention, people who loves coffee and eating! There is no limit to join Kanekin Gatherings. Everyone is welcomed.

So what we actually do in Kanekin Gatherings? We mingled. We said hi to people we didn't know yet, we introduced ourself and share about what we do. It might be awkward and shy at first, but the more I joined this kind of gatherings, it became easier. I think being able to present ourself is one of skill we need in life. Living in "gadget" era made us more difficult to approach people we don't know. We have more pried than we have before. I think we are no longer easy to talk to people in real life because we are more comfortable type it on our phone and hiding ; not dealing with eye contacts and their reaction while we are talking to them. Networking is also crucial, it's not always about business, but it's more to build connection between humans to fullfil their social needs. A person who joined this gatherings is not always have to be an extrovert. Just be comfortable for yourself. Talking and open up yourself to others is an option that you valued, if you are an introvert. That's alright! We didn't want you to be uncomfortable, so just enjoy and be present! :)

Ok next. This 14th gatherings was held at Ethnicraft Alam Sutera, a showroom for furniture and home decorations. Believe me, every corner here are so chic and definetely instagrammable! They are selling the stuffs you pinned on Pinterest about home decor, or furniture you wished to have in interior design magazine! Here let me show some photographs taken in Ethnicraft.

Thank you big sis for taking this picture and accompany me the whole day <3

The mini bazaar was held on the third floor. Clover and Flower got a study desk to display the polymer clay creations. I love the desk so much because it's super sleek and made out woods. Without further ado, let me present you the pictures!

Thank you Kanekin for this opportunity! I chose christmas themed for this bazaar because christmas is less than a month! Christmas themed polymer clay was so much fun and I really enjoyed making them. FYI I still have stocks left if you have not buy any christmas present for your loved ones. You can contact me through Instagram DMs or Line me at AudreyKatherine!

Habibie Festival - Makerland August 2017

Hi everyone! It has been a really long time! I've been missing lately due to my fulltime job, however  I am a fulltime freelancer at home now, so I can use most of my time to create! Right now I am dedicating myself to update my blog and creating content. I thought this would be the right time to share about my experience joining Habibie Festival last August. I know, it's a bit late, but better late than never, right? You know, just a classic phrase you might probably have heard a thousand times. When I don't post regularly on Instagram or this Blogspot, updating something became a little bit more difficult because it made me scared to do it. The first step is always the most difficult (another classic phrase...) So let me loosen up a bit..

Habibie Festival is an anual event, held by BeKraf (Creative Economy Agency of Indonesia), and Berkarya!Indonesia, a movement or organization to encourage young people of Indonesia to innovate, to create, and take part in education and technology fields, founded by B.J Habibie, President of Indonesia from 1998 to 1999. Habibie Festival 2017 was held in JiExpo Kemayoran on 7-13 August. Not only focused on innovation and technology, Habibie Festival also provide creative people and brands to showcase themself and their products in MakerLand section. Inside this MakerLand, there were a lot handycrafts being exhibited and sold, such as decoupage, quilting paper, illustrated notebooks and postcards, and my product for example as well, polymer clay! My booth were the only one that showcased handmade sculpting creations.

Me and my display table

So, How did I get into this event? A friend of mine, shared this information about Makerland in my campus alumni LINE group. Because it was free of charge, and I thought the event was big and well known (because it had Habibie named on it), so I decided to join! I clicked through the link and filled the form about my personal information, and about my brand Clover and Flower. I also sent them Clover and Flower's instagram and blog. I was so grateful that I have made this blog earlier (even though I was struggling to keep this blog updated), because having this blog really made my brand have more credibility. When I sent the form, I didn't expect many things, well because I believe that it was a big and national event, not only for Jakarta creatives. Also I didn't have any achievement that time, I only got featured in kids magazine once. (I don't know if it was worth as achievement or not but I'm still proud of it. I always wanted to be in the magazine and someday : national television!)

When I got the email weeks later, I was so shocked that my brand was curated in Makerland on Habibie Festival. It freaked me out and didn't believe it at first. Also I was busy working in the office that I didn't think I have time to make anything. I didn't have any display tools like a wooden rack or something so when I went home I printed every documents they sent me about the terms and conditions, and read it very carefully. I contacted every contact person they listed because I was not given a detailed information about the table location. (Later I found out on D-day, the tables were free to choose based on first come-first get method.) Since this was my first experience ever to have a booth to exhibit, I was a bit clueless what I should do. Then I made a list of things that I already have at home, and made a sketch about how to use them the most to display my creations.

Break down of things I could use for display table.
From the sketch idea into the real display
My table display turned out very simple but eye catching enough. You can see here I put my IPad as a table tent. It was actually a power point presentation I made about Clover and Flower so my audience could take a look about the story behind Clover and Flower, future vision, and achievement (yes I put about that kids magazine again haha), and contact page. The nice thing about the IPad was that it could show the my contact page (email, instagram, phone number, etc) in one page. When my name card was ran out of stock, I showed them my contact page and they took picture of it. Simple!

The crowds in Habibie Festival were amazing!!! A lot of kids from many different school came as a field trip, there were a lot of parents also joining. 98% people who came to my booth must touched my clay creations. This happened a lot, maybe they have to touch it so they can truly see it, as using both eyes were not enough so they have to sense it with their finger as well. Hahaha.

I love looking at everyone's reactions when they saw my creations. They were so curious, they wanted to touch everything, they played with it. There were one girl playing with my clay and made a story herself, also one little boy squeaking when he saw my polymer clay creations. They have the best reactions so far. They called their friends to came over to my booth to see what they see, also snap pictures. On my first day of exhibiting my clay creations, I didn't sell anything because I didn't make anything new and only showcasing my polymer clay creations I already had. I thought if I sell them, I would ran out of things to display until the third day. But the demands were so high, they insist to buy my clay because they want to have them so much.

One elementary or junior high student told me that these were amazing, the potential was really big and could make a lot of money from it. That I could make this and that. I was amazed that I was "schooled" by these kids. I learned a lot. Their energy lightened up my spirit so later that night on the first day even though I was exhausted pretty badly I made clay to be sold on the next day. On the second day I started to sell my clay, I made keychains, and custom bracelets. People now could buy and keep them. Then they started to ask me if I have any studio or workshop. They wanted to learn. But I said I have not done any workshop, someday I will. I felt I've been challenged! So that day I did a polymer clay demo. Not only asking for workshop, they also asked me if I sell polymer clay supplies such as the clay and the tools I used. Noted! Maybe I will sell it in the future.

I got a lot of insight from this event. I thank everyone that came, my friends, my family who helped and accompany me for 3 days of exhibition. To all random people that love my creations as much as I do and gave me encouragement to do this and that, they gave me compliments and raised my confident. I felt so blessed to be part of this amazing experience at Habibie Festival. Even there was one man, came to my booth, amazed, and he said to my mom, how lucky she is to have me as her daughter because I was so talented. It was the best thing anyone ever said in my life. I want to thank everyone who follow the journey of Clover and Flower from the start. Your following and likes in Instagram really made me keep doing it. Thank you for all the kind words, they are all blessings for me. I know that Clover and Flower is still very raw and not that amazing but you guys keep believe in this potential. I was scared but challenged. I hope I can make Clover and Flower better from time to time. :)

Since I am full time freelancing now, I will try to focus on Clover and Flower, along with my watercolor illustration. The gate of possibilities are open and I ready to face it!! I hope this post can inspire you anyway or anyhow, how tiny steps are important for our future. Work hard, and be kind.

Showcasing My Polymer Cakes Collections

Hello guys it has been a long time not to write and showcasing my works!
Today I would like to show you my cakes collection made from polymer clay.
I love sculpting cakes! I think it's somehow gives me satisfaction feeling.
My favorite part is always cutting the cake and see the beautiful fillings on the inside.

What you have to do to make a cake is layering some clay into some stacks, cover them
nicely with a new thin clay. And then cut it, and give it some details using a toothpick or
needle with a circular motion to make the surface looks like a real cake texture.

 A Rainbow Cake
I should have put it on the plate but
I don't have one XD

With raspberry and blackforest cakes

Anyone interested in eating this tiny cakes?
If you have any recommendation about which cakes I should making the miniature of..
Please tell me <3

Much love,

Audrey

Pinkie Pie Polymer Clay! :)

I was commissioned by a friend of mine to make Pinkie Pie unicorn clay. I finally made it after I postponed it quite a long time because I was very busy with my university assignments. Another reason I postponed it was I put too much stress and pressure on this works, I told myself to make it super nice and look alike with the real Pinkie Pie and I shouldn't make it clumsy or with "at least it's done" thought.

I finally made it during this holiday, therefore I could focus and made it with clear mind, and take a lot of time needed, without any rush. *phew*

Here it is the Pinkie Pie polymer clay!

with extra cupcakes as photo props

All sides of Pinkie Pie:

Before I made this unicorn, I watched a very helpful tutorial on making My Little Pony polymer clay.
Rarity tutorial by Clay with Ewa

I hope you like her as much as I do!
This is one of my proud creation ^^

Cupcakes Clay

Hi guys it has been a very long long long time since I post something on the blog. It has been a month and I really missed posting on this blog. :)  I've never known how the last year of uni could be this busy and stressful, even this holiday I still got so many things to think and to do. I should really get used to it. I'm currently on holiday right now so I could spare a little more time to craft and post.

These are cupcakes I made for fun. I really missed making something for myself, since I have commissioned list to be done. Commissioned work are fun to make because I love sculpting, but I hate it when I put stress on it. *I'm the type of person who stressed over tasks* as I said before, I should really getting used to it and try not to be anxious everytime, because I know in this life you cannot dream a happy and stress free life. Problem comes and go, therefore you should not stay in one place and you should keep walking and be positive.

Enough with the whining section, now let's talk about the cupcake I've made. I've just bought a cupcake mold from a good friend of mine. She didn't sell it, she bought it from etsy store. *I don't have an etsy yet and paypal so I asked her to buy some*

This is my first trial using a cupcake base mold. This mold is easy to use. I have some tips when using this mold, first, condition your clay by kneading until it soft and warm, press it into the mold and let it stay for a couple of minutes. You can see the result is different between getting the clay out shortly after you press it and with a couple of minute stay.

If you let the clay sit for a moment in the mold, the clay is getting firmer
and hold the shape better.

 Yummy cupcakes!
I could tell they must be very sweet if they're real cupcakes.

That's it, the post for today!
I hope your eyes could enjoy the cupcakes :)
oh! Merry Christmas too by the way!
See you some other time *soon*

Daehan Minguk Manse clay

Hey guys!
I made Daehan Minguk Manse clay. Do you know who they are? If you're Korean lovers, you must have known them! :) They are the cutest triplets on earth, they are well known cast from the very famous Korea variety show, "The Return of Superman". They are Song Brothers, sons of Song Il Kook and Jung Seung Yeon.

Daehan, Minguk and Manse are not identical. They have different personalities, very active and well behaved! If you don't know them, you can watch them on youtube, I am sure that you'll fall in love since the first time you saw them! :)

a perfect gift for Daehan Minguk Manse lovers!

Brown and Cony Polymer Clay

Hiiii
I just made this cuties; Brown and Cony!
Who doesn't know them? They are the cutest of Line characters! I think Line is genius, they bring up characters into chat which soooo freakin' cute!
Even though there are many others Line characters, Brown and Cony are my all time favorite! :)
They are so 'lovey-dovey' and they are so perfect for each other!
Some how I could relate Brown and Cony with real life couple (where the guys are cold but loving and the girls are very expressive) :)

So these are the clay I made, 100% handmade!
I also took their picture with a proper camera and used 50mm lens to create a beautiful story of them.

Take a look! :)
"It's OK Brown, don't be shy..."

"Let's stay at the cave (my hand)"
 "We should walk together"
"I'll walk with you. No matter what happened."

Awwwww...
Aren't they're sooo cute together?
Tell me what do you think!

If you love this post please share this blog <3
Thank you very much!!!
See yaaaa

xoxo,
