3 days before the event I was told I could join Comifuro, sharing the table with a friend of mine. I was soooo excited because this my first event ever!!! I was rushing to make the best creations in two days. I made well known characters such as Minions, Totoro, and Calcifer, thinking people would loved it and bought it. I made a bunch of them!
I prepared everything to be perfect, looking for the right packaging to make it look better and able to keep the clay safely. I also taught about the setting about how would it look at the stall. These are the picture :
I was pretty confident to sell them. I was sure people would love it and buy it.
This was me trying to sell the polymer clay I made. This picture was taken at the first hour so I still look good and with all that smile.
However, how many clay do you think was purchased? Only one :(
It was actually so hard to sell them. People would look at it and gave compliments about how cute and tiny and how they loved the character, but people wouldn't bother to buy it.
I think I know the problem though... it was overpriced :(
( I tried to sell them at 50.000 rupiah each box or approximately $ 5. )
I shouldn't think people willingly to spend their money the same way I did.
Or........... I went to the the wrong event. Maybe I should join a craft events, or toys fair, because this was a comic events, they were all selling 2D stuffs like printed keychain, notebook, posters, fan art, art books, etc which very Japanese anime and manga style. I guess I was the only one who made 3D stuff with polymer clay.
But hey, I'm not giving up :)
There are lessons I could take from this experience. I hope the next will be better and I could be wiser! Well you know, good things never came easily.
xoxo
